His name is Royal, but he’s no prince charming. He’s not even a prince - though you could say I loved him once upon a time.

He was my older brother’s best friend.

Growing up, he sat at our dinner table every Sunday, teased me mercilessly, and pretended I annoyed him.

When I was old enough, he took me on my first date.

Royal taught me how to drive. Escorted me to my junior prom. Gave me my first kiss…amongst other things. He was my first taste of toe-curling, all-consuming, can’t-sleep love.

We had our whole lives ahead of us. There was never anyone else for me but him.

And then he disappeared. No letter. No explanation. Not even a goodbye.

My sisters and brother never forgave him, and my parents forbade me from speaking his name in our house ever again. For all intents and purposes, we were to pretend Royal Lockhart never existed.

I’ve spent the last seven years trying in vain to forget my first love, but just when I think I’ve finally moved on, guess who’s back in town?

Peyton's Thoughts

Winter Renshaw completely knocked me off balance with this one. It was MORE than I expected it to be and I was completely captivated from beginning to end. I LOVE her style of writing, the flow of the story and the fact that I was unable to put this book down from the time I started, until I finished!

Royal broke my heart. Literally.. I honestly didn't think I was going to be able to finish this story. I didn't know if I WANTED to. I pushed on though and I am forever glad I did. I fell in love with a person who I was dead set on never liking again. Yeah, it was that personal. I can understand his thought process, feel for him about his past and understand exactly where his head was given his circumstances and the crappy-ish life he had leading up to the moment everything changed his entire life.
“Happily-ever-afters and everything little girls dream of. He was a cool breeze on a hot day. Electric kisses and mischievous firsts. An addiction I couldn’t get out of my system.”
Demi is something else. The girl is strong headed, as well as strong-hearted. She is loyal to a fault and deals with way more than she ever should. Life hasn't exactly handed her the best playing hand when it comes to relationships. First Royal, and then that idiot that she thought she was going to marry. You would think that fate.. or life in general would want to cut her break. Then disaster strikes and suddenly she's standing there starring at the very last persons he thought she would ever see again.. Royal.

That's right ladies.. Seven years later Royal is back to set things right. And save the day.. Along with reclaiming the life that was TAKEN from him that night seven years ago. Life.. and fate ladies and gentlemen are not going to make this easy for either one of them. If they thought they had issues and obstacles to overcome before, they haven't seen anything yet. I was rooting harder than I have ever rooted for anyone before. At the same time, I wanted to kick the both of them time and time again. The emotions this book brought out of me were both welcome and sometimes unwanted. Not to mention I was thrown for a loop a time or two!
“Life may not always be a fairytale, but it doesn’t mean we can’t make our own happily-ever-after.”
Winter Renshaw knew what she was doing when she put the pen to paper and started writing the delightful book known as Royal. The story was well written, flowed effortlessly and kept me wanting more.. Let's also note that the secondary characters are well worth mentioning. Demi's family helps make this book the epic that it is. Derek and her father play a huge part in Royal's story and her sisters even make an appearance. Now, let's touch on what most of you really want to know. The lovely sexy scenes.. HOT. SCORCHING. PANTIE DROPPING. This entire novel hit the spot. No kidding. If you have not read Royal, you MUST! You must also check back later in the week to see my review of Bachelor - Derek's story!

  1. As I was reading the synopsis, I totally felt/knew something horrible was about to happen! Royal sounds like such a gentleman the way he has always been their for her. It's so sweet and all-consuming indeed! Whatever the reason for him leaving town, must be so important.I would love to read this book on the white sandy beaches, with a fresh coconut drink by my side. :)
